Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Claims Adjuster on our Property Casualty Claims team in Stamford, CT. You will investigate, negotiate, and resolve claims, maintain documentation, and provide timely information to brokers, clients, and underwriters.

The role requires 5–10 years in property‑casualty claims, with licenses for NY and FL; additional licenses are expected. Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are essential for success at Sompo.

Qualifications

• Five to ten years of property casualty claims experience, environmental or railroad claims preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the general insurance industry, claims trends, regulatory requirements, and class-specific practices.
• Required adjuster licenses for NY and FL; additional licenses expected; Texas license preferred.
• Strong investigative, negotiation, influencing, communication, and stakeholder-management skills with sound commercial judgment.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, collaborate, and produce accurate management information and detailed reports.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and ability to navigate complex data and claims systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims in accordance with policy terms, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze coverage issues, establish reserves, and manage disputed or material claims through resolution.
• Review claim estimates, billings, and related documentation to support accurate handling and financial outcomes.
• Identify and pursue subrogation, contribution, and other recovery opportunities when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation and claims system records while providing timely information to brokers, clients, underwriters, and stakeholders.
