Job summary

The Town of Killingly is seeking a qualified Assessor to lead the assessment team, value real and personal property, and manage annual revaluations in support of accurate tax administration.

The ideal candidate has a business- or admin-related degree, CCMA certification, and supervisory experience. Salary ranges from $90,000 to $112,000 per year, with health, dental, and PTO benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; supervisory experience preferred.
• Extensive appraisal education and at least four years of real and personal property appraisal experience.
• CCMA I required; CCMA II desirable and must be obtained within first three years.

Responsibilities

• Find, list, measure, and value all real and personal property in the town.
• Determine eligibility for abatements and exemptions and apply them.
• Summarize ownership, values, and exemptions into annual abstracts; report to districts.
• Oversee the periodic contract revaluation from RFP to completion and certify revaluation.
• Maintain records and GIS data; manage on-line information and mapping links.
• Coordinate tax map updates and oversee street numbering as 911 Coordinator.
• Administer State and Town Homeowner’s Programs and Town Freeze/Renter’s Rebate Programs.
• Register municipal aircraft and report to the State; supervise staff and budget.
