Job summary

The Town of Killingly is seeking a qualified Assessor to manage real and personal property valuation for taxable and exempt properties. Responsibilities include supervising staff, overseeing revaluation contracts, maintaining records, and coordinating with state programs.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, supervisory experience, and CCMA I certification (CCMA II desirable and to be obtained within three years).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; supervisory experience preferred.
• CCMA I certification required; CCMA II desirable and must be obtained within three years.

Responsibilities

• Find, list, measure, and value all real and personal property in the Town; identify taxable and tax-exempt properties.
• Determine eligibility for abatements and exemptions and apply accordingly.
• Prepare annual abstract/grand list and report to eight districts; assist in grants/reimbursements as needed.
• Supervise field inspections/appraisals and manage revaluation staff.
• Oversee contractual revaluation processes from RFP to completion; certify revaluation results.
• Maintain records and database; support GIS and on-line mapping data.
