Job summary

Anoka County is seeking a Senior Appraiser to assess commercial, industrial, and apartment properties in the County. You will research, classify, and value properties to provide fair assessments, produce detailed appraisal reports, and conduct ongoing field inspections and valuations.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with benefits and potential hybrid scheduling after probation. Interviews planned for the week of 10/19/2026.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of job-related experience.
Possess a CMA-IQ license (Income Qualified Minnesota Assessor).
Equivalent education/experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
Successfully pass driver's license background check.

Responsibilities

Examine and evaluate property to establish a fair market value for taxation.
Perform on-site inspections to determine property condition.
View and inspect parcels to determine changes from prior assessment.
Verify property classification and land type breakdown for accuracy.
Provide information to owners regarding assessment laws and valuation procedures.
Communicate with taxpayers about sensitive financial matters.
Monitor real estate trends and interpret market data.
Handle tax court negotiations and testimony as needed.
Manage appeals for Local and County BOE.
Prepare and update field notes documenting changes.
