Job description

Our client,a New York real estate developer and property manager, delivers innovative living spaces that enhance the communities where people live, work, and shop. With a century of experience, they specialize in developing luxury rentals, condominiums, and mixed-use spaces, alongside managing vibrant, full-service properties. They are seeking aSenior Property Accountantto join their team.The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for recording, reviewing, and evaluating the financial transactions for a portfolio of residential properties. This position is ultimately responsible for the accuracy of the company's financial reports for such properties.Extensive Yardi experience is a must.Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly close of books and records and prepare internal and external financial statements for distribution.
• Review daily banking transactions for accuracy and update records as needed.
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts for assigned properties.
• Record monthly wires and debt service payments.
• Analyze and record the activity of mortgage escrows and reserve accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliation on assigned properties, including tenant security bank accounts.
• Perform month-end-close process.
• Record year-end journal entries and compile audit and tax work papers to facilitate the preparation of audited financial statements and tax returns
• Facilitate various property tax compliance matters; i.e. filings for annual certiorari applications, NYC RPIE’s forms, and tax petitions
• Assist with ad-hoc projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting/finance or a related field
• Residential real estate experience a must
• 5 years of experience in an accounting role
• Proficiency working with Yardi softwarerequired
• Experience with tax-credit residential properties is a plus
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Excel
• Strong communication skills
