Synergy Search represents a well-established real estate owner/operator seeking a capable accounting professional to own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties in Maryland. You will read leases and translate their terms into proper accounting treatment, including close, reconciliations, and accruals.

• 2–5 years of commercial real estate accounting experience (retail or office).
• CPA or actively pursuing preferred.
• Experience with lease abstraction and complex lease structures.

Responsabilidades

• Own full-cycle accounting for a set of properties including close, reconciliations, and accruals.
• Abstract lease documents into the accounting ledger.
• Prepare expense recoveries and schedules.
• Interpret lease structures such as percentage rent, CAM, straight-line rent.
• Support financial reporting through schedules and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with property management on tenant account issues.

Our client is a well-established commercial real estate owner/operator with a portfolio of retail and office properties. The organization handles leasing, property management, finance, and accounting internally.

The Role

This functions like a mini-controller seat. You'll own full-cycle accounting for a set of properties, including close, reconciliations, and lease interpretation. This isn't a data-entry role - you'll be reading lease agreements and translating them into accounting treatment.

What You'll Own

• Complete monthly close, prepare operating statements, and book accruals
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Abstract lease documents into the accounting ledger
• Prepare expense recovery billings
• Interpret complex lease structures, including percentage rent, CAM true-ups, straight-line rent, and additional rent provisions
• Support financial reporting through schedule prep and reconciliation work
• Partner with property management on tenant account issues

Profile

• 2 to 5 years of commercial real estate accounting experience (retail or office; residential does not qualify)
• CPA or actively pursuing preferred
• Property accounting software experience preferred
• Comfortable with lease abstraction, not just routine entry
• Public accounting/audit experience alone, without industry experience, will not be considered
