Job summary

Vanderweil Engineers in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Project Manager to lead high-impact substation projects with a hybrid schedule (up to 2 days remote per week). This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing scope, schedule, and budgets across our Atlanta office and national projects.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of PM/engineering experience in utility infrastructure and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project management or engineering experience in utility Power Delivery / T&D or related infrastructure.
• Substation engineering/project experience strongly preferred.
• Managing engineering scope, schedule, budget, client interface, change management, and project financials.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant utility/project experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing plan, forecasting, and overall project execution.
• Lead internal and client project meetings; maintain action-item logs, decision tracking, risks/issues, and follow-up.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams including Electrical, Structural, Civil, Transmission, Protection, SCADA/Controls, and subcontractors.
• Monitor deliverable schedules, identify constraints, and develop recovery plans with technical leads.
• Identify out-of-scope work and coordinate change-order requests, fee estimates, narratives, and documentation.
• Manage project financial performance, including budgets, burn rates, forecasts, invoicing support, backlog, and earned/progress status.
• Coordinate project setup, contracting requirements, subcontractor/partner activities, client documentation, and project closeout.
• Support proposal development, fee estimates, schedules, staffing plans, and client presentations.
• Maintain effective client communication and elevate issues that could affect scope, schedule, quality, or commercial performance.
