Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned wind project leader to drive end-to-end execution of large utility-scale projects across the United States and Canada, from Sales handover to service handover. You will own safety, schedule, cost, and contract compliance while coordinating with engineering, commercial, and legal teams.

You will mentor project managers, manage governance and risk, and act as the primary customer interface with executives. Willingness to travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience managing complex energy, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Preference for 15–20 years and substantial wind execution experience in US/Canada.
  • 8+ years in wind project management, construction, operations, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience with governance, contract administration, forecasting, and change management.

Job description

  • Lead end-to-end execution of large, complex, and strategically important wind projects in the United States and Canada
  • Lead project execution governance across the full project lifecycle from Sales-to-PM handover through customer handover and PM-to-Service handover
  • Own integrated project performance across HSE, quality, schedule, cost, margin, cash collection, contract compliance, customer satisfaction, and risk mitigation
  • Serve as the primary customer interface and build relationships with customer executives, contractors, owners’ engineers, and internal leadership
  • Establish and maintain project controls including schedules, critical paths, milestones, action logs, risk registers, forecasts, change control, claims strategy, cash collection plans, and documentation governance
  • Lead project forecast reviews covering commercial changes, risks and opportunities, liquidated damages exposure, contingencies, cash collection, tax/VAT considerations, and cost-category assignment
  • Partner with Commercial Project Management, Legal/Contracts, Sourcing, and Finance on contractual obligations, change orders, claims, extensions of time, invoicing, payments, subcontractor positions, and dispute resolution
  • Coordinate execution readiness, project team structure, resources, site and construction readiness, logistics, material availability, contractor readiness, crane and installation planning, quality plans, and systems setup
  • Coordinate technical solutions with Engineering and global functions; elevate design, grid, commissioning, SCADA, quality, and technical issues
  • Manage schedules through operational plan updates, critical-path analysis, delay reporting, recovery planning, and milestone threat identification
  • Ensure compliance with QHSE policies, health and safety plans, statutory requirements, quality plans, ServiceNow/NCR processes, customer requirements, and contractual obligations
  • Stop or prohibit work when immediate HSE risks or improper handling of wind turbine components are identified
  • Lead escalation of project deviations using structured problem-solving, impact analysis, mitigation options, accountability assignment, and management communication
  • Coordinate project document management and digital project environments, including Teams, PM tools, schedule files, Upvise/database inputs, contract summaries, lessons learned, handover documentation, punch lists, commissioning documentation, and contractual milestone evidence
  • Support negotiation strategy with subcontractors, contractors, engineering, construction, transportation, crane, and logistics providers
  • Mentor Project Managers, Site Managers, PQM, PMOps, LPM, TPMs, and project team members
  • Represent Nordex with customers, contractors, industry stakeholders, and global counterparts
  • Travel to project sites, customer offices, contractor locations, and Nordex offices as required
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities, including temporary coverage of Project Manager responsibilities
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or related discipline required; equivalent extensive industry experience may be considered
  • 10+ years of relevant experience managing complex energy, infrastructure, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
  • Preference for candidates with 15-20 years and substantial utility-scale wind execution experience in the United States and/or Canada
  • Minimum 8+ years in wind project management, wind construction, project operations, installation, logistics, commissioning, or comparable renewable-energy project execution leadership
  • Proven track record managing multiple large-scale projects or a portfolio of major project workstreams
  • Experience with customer governance, contractor management, contract administration, financial forecasting, claims/change management, and execution recovery
  • Experience interacting with customer executives, developers, owners’ engineers, construction management teams, senior internal leadership, and global functional stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or leading project managers and cross-functional project teams strongly preferred
  • Full valid driver’s license and insurability under the company’s auto insurance policy
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to comply with safety regulations and company policies
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
  • Ability to properly use applicable safety equipment
  • Fluent spoken and understood English
