Job summary

Airco MEP in Troy, Illinois, seeks a hands-on Project Manager / Estimator – Commercial Plumbing to support preconstruction and execution for complex plumbing projects. You will estimate, price, bid, and then lead projects from kickoff through closeout.

The role requires reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, building budgets, and coordinating procurement, submittals, RFIs, and changes with field teams and customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial plumbing estimating or project management.
• Active plumbing license or ability to qualify as licensed plumber for commercial work in IL/Greater St. Louis area.
• Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, codes, and field execution.
• Experience pricing and managing projects such as tenant improvements, light industrial, institutional, healthcare or education facilities.
• Ability to read plans/specs, perform takeoffs, build budgets, and manage awarded work with limited oversight.
• Strong communication skills with customers, GCs, field teams, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Estimate commercial plumbing projects by reviewing drawings, specs, bid docs, and addenda.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop estimates for labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
• Estimate scopes including domestic water, sanitary systems, drainage, gas piping, fixtures, and related systems.
• Solicit and level vendor and subcontractor pricing; identify scope gaps and risks.
• Prepare proposals, bid summaries, and pricing recommendations; participate in pre-bid discussions.
• Lead awarded projects from handoff through closeout; manage budgets, procurement, schedules, RFIs, change orders, and billing support.
• Coordinate with field leadership, plumbers, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, owners, and internal stakeholders.
• Track job cost, labor productivity, committed cost, and forecasting against estimates and margins.
• Maintain strong customer communication to ensure quality, schedule adherence, and issue resolution.
