Job summary

Airco MEP in Troy, Illinois is hiring a Project Engineer – Mechanical Construction to support project managers on active commercial mechanical projects. This early‑career role emphasizes learning, detail orientation, and growth into project management or estimating.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of experience in mechanical construction or a relevant four‑year degree with internship or field exposure. This in‑office/on‑site position offers a base salary of $55,000–$70,000 plus comprehensive

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience supporting construction projects, preferably mechanical construction.
• Relevant four-year degree with internship, co‑op, or field/project exposure.
• Comfortable around jobsites and able to communicate professionally with field teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and track submittals, product data, RFIs, closeout documents, and project logs.
• Assist with takeoffs, quantities, job costing, and estimating support.
• Support purchasing, including material ordering, lead times, delivery coordination, and vendor follow‑up.
• Help build and maintain project documentation, files, turnover packages, and closeout materials.
• Support job planning and scheduling; Microsoft Project exposure is a plus.
• Create and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans and compliance records.
• Attend job walks, take photos, and verify field conditions.
