Position Overview

The New York City PM/CM Lead is a senior project management role responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing the successful positioning, capture, and execution of Project Management/Construction Management (PM/CM) Building Projects throughout the New York City Metropolitan Area. The role supports business growth in alignment with strategic targets set by the unit.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support Mott MacDonald's efforts to assess, pursue, and capture major PM/CM opportunities in the NYC Metro Area, enhancing visibility and expanding project scope based on our Northeast track record.
  2. Assume managerial ownership of large-scale multidisciplinary construction projects.
  3. Manage and monitor project budgets and schedules.
  4. Serve as the main point of contact for project owners on all project matters.
  5. Lead coordination efforts between owners, project management teams, and contractors.
  6. Assist owners with community outreach and stakeholder coordination.
  7. Provide project management, technical oversight, and lead delivery teams in schedule, cost, risk, and technical progress.
  8. Manage client relationships by delivering technical excellence and ensuring satisfaction.
  9. Support project teams and clients with responsive delivery and strategic input.
  10. Provide team leadership through exemplary behavior, innovation, collaboration, and decisive action.
  11. Supervise staff to ensure compliance with contracts and policies.
  12. Oversee contract delivery during procurement, preconstruction, and construction phases.
  13. Act as the primary contact for client and contractor coordination.
  14. Conduct project progress meetings and manage contract payments and change orders.
Candidate Requirements
  • 10+ years of public agency building experience in the NYC area as a project manager.
  • Proven track record with NYC/NYS public buildings, facilities, and infrastructure projects, including design-build and alternative delivery models.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field; PE, RA, or CCM preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong relationships with contractor organizations and government agencies, with the ability to leverage these for business development.
  • Experience in strategic planning, teaming, proposal development, and negotiations.
  • Goal-oriented with a desire to win and deliver projects successfully.
  • Ability to clearly present complex information.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and project-specific software such as Microsoft Office, ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
