Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Engineer I for our Des Moines, IA office. This role supports the Industrial team, with travel as needed, and prioritizes preconstruction, planning, buyout, and closeout activities. Mechanical experience is a plus, and supervision of field personnel may occur.

You'll monitor project status, manage documents, RFIs, submittals, and change orders, coordinating with the project team to protect schedules and budgets. Travel to project sites will be required.

Qualifications

• Industry degree required.
• 2+ years construction project management experience preferred.
• LEAN principles helpful.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain project documents and drawings.
• Review RFIs and submittals for accuracy.
• Assist in inspections, audits, and non-conformance logs.
• Track material and equipment deliveries.
• Draft scopes for subcontracts and PO documents.
• Coordinate change orders within delegated authority.
• Travel to project sites as needed.
