ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:
This person will bespecializing in Bridge Design and/or Inspection to help lead our bridge team.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Monitor project budgets to ensure they are used appropriately for progress during the project.
- Assist with preparation of Technical and Price Proposals.
- Identify work that is beyond the required Scope of Services and prepare Change Order Requests before expending person-hours.
- Develop Progress Reports and review invoices for completeness and accuracy.
- Make confident and timely decisions.
- Direct client, sub-consultant, and in-house staff coordination utilizing excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Lead and mentor staff. Continuously monitoring staff’s work to insure progress of acceptable design practices.
- Plan, organize and effectively utilize people, resources, and materials within WBCM’s bridge group and with other technical disciplines such as the Highway and Water Resources groups.
- Anticipate and mitigate conflicts/issues and complete projects within the budget, while satisfying Client’s expectations.
- Monitoring work of Sub-Consultants to ensure completion of work on time and within budget, including technical review of their work.
- Design of structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls, and related transportation-related structures.
- Preparation of design plans, cost estimates and specifications for bridge and transportation projects.
- Perform bridge inspections in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
- Prepare and review bridge inspection reports.
- Perform load rating analyses in accordance with AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation based on as—built or as-inspected conditions.
- Review Plans, Specifications, and Estimates at various milestones to insure completeness and accuracy of work. Provide technical design direction throughout the project life cycle.
- Perform construction phase services including field visits and review of Contractor’s submittals and RFIs.
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of technical reports, contract documents, or proposals prepared by others.
- Enhance expertise through continued learning.
- Actively participate in professional and/or technical organizations.
- Mentor, train, and supervise Design Engineers.
- Maintain current Professional Engineering licenses in good standing.
QualificationsWhat you bring to our firm:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering.
- 10 years of experience in bridge inspection and/or bridge design including preparation of construction documents.
- Licensed Professional Engineer. Maryland PE License preferred. If not currently in possession of a MD PE, willingness, and ability to acquire MD PE within six (6) months of hire.
- FHWA NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training.
- Understanding of various design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc.
- Knowledgeable in computer programs such as Merlin Dash, LEAP Bridge, MIDAS, STAAD, L-Pile, etc.
- Understanding of and experience utilizing CADD software including MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Excellent time management and written & oral communication skills.
- Ability to work through assigned tasks/projects independently and timely.
- Willingness to work with and learn from Bridge teammates of all levels.
- Design/Inspection experience within Maryland and with local agencies.
- Ability to understand and interpret client and regulatory requirements to ensure successful project completion.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to grow to the next level of leadership and success.
- Team oriented and self-motivated.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Compensation:
The Salary range for this position is $101,00-$155,00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
