Job Description Summary:

Overall management of Aviation construction project resulting in successful project completion. This position will be focused regionally in the Carolinas.

Job Description:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Able to perform all Project Manager’s responsibilities (refer to position descriptions)
  2. Manage multiple or large, complex Aviation projects
  3. Estimate and establish budgets and contract price (GMP/Lump Sum)
  4. Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases
  5. Set up and implement job procedures and techniques to assure timely buyout, shop drawing approval and material delivery
  6. Keep project on schedule
  7. Develop and maintain good relationship with Owner, Architect and Subcontractors
  8. Work with Superintendent to develop safety plans and to implement safety procedures
  9. Maintain timely and accurate reporting to management
  10. Manage, train, and supervise Aviation project team according to Company policy
  11. Organize regular meetings for management and subcontractors
  12. Review contract conditions; ensure compliance with all contract terms
  13. Assist in developing and implementing strategic business growth initiatives by identifying new market opportunities
  14. Supervise documentation of all significant project events, e.g., accidents, delays, Change Orders
  15. Direct preconstruction services and activities
  16. Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontract bid packages
  17. Assist with business development and participate in job interviews
  18. Maintain quality control (integrity and excellence of completed project)
  19. Support estimating staff (bid item specialist)
  20. Avoid or mitigate claims and conflict
  21. Complete all job close-out procedures
  22. Conduct warranty follow-up (1-year warranty walks)
  23. Complete project with full or enhanced fee
  24. Complete other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree or equivalent experience
  2. Field construction management experience (8-10 years, including supervisory skills) in Aviation projects
  3. Leadership ability
  4. Problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency
  5. Organizational and communication skills
  6. Drafting and computer skills
  7. Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
  8. Thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement and estimating)
