Job summary

UC Irvine seeks a team lead with deep expertise in design and construction to ensure that policy, contract, and procedural standards guide the capital program and projects. You will develop policies, advise senior leaders, and provide technical guidance across project teams.

Qualifications

Your Role on the Team

Functioning as a team lead with deep expertise in design and construction, you will ensure that UCI’s design and construction policies support the goals of the capital program and comply with all applicable state and federal codes. You will develop policies, procedures, and contract documents, advise senior leaders, and provide technical guidance to project teams.

What It Takes to be Successful
  • In‑depth knowledge of planning, design, and construction procedures and industry practices.
  • Advanced experience developing policies related to design and construction.
  • In‑depth understanding of contract documents in the design and construction industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of University organization, infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies, and strategic building plans.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem‑recognition, avoidance, and resolution skills.
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including negotiation and political acumen.
  • Advanced team building and facilitation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience or training.
  • License to practice in at least one of the following professions: architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning, or landscape architecture.
