The Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful execution of automation and material handling projects from project kickoff through final customer acceptance. This role has full accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, risk management, systems integration, quality, procurement, commercial performance, and customer satisfaction.
The Project Manager serves as the primary customer contact throughout project execution and is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements. This position requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and a proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar capital projects while driving profitability, mitigating risk, and creating long-term customer value.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of automation and material handling projects from award through commissioning and project closeout.
- Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans using a structured Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, maintaining proactive communication and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout project execution.
- Analyze project performance related to budget, scope, schedule, labor utilization, and commercial performance to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate project forecasts, including Estimate at Completion (EAC), Estimate to Complete (ETC), cash flow projections, and risk mitigation plans.
- Identify, develop, and successfully negotiate change orders and other opportunities to maximize project value and profitability.
- Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, controls, software, supply chain, procurement, installation, commissioning, finance, and sales.
- Drive timely decision-making and issue resolution to minimize project risk and maintain project objectives.
- Ensure contractual obligations, project deliverables, and milestone requirements are met and formally accepted by the customer.
- Monitor project financial performance, including revenue recognition, invoicing milestones, accounts receivable, gross margin, and CAPEX expenditures.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect schedule, cost, quality, and customer expectations.
- Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting to leadership teams and key stakeholders.

Your Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Robotics, Automation, or a related field.
- 7+ years of project management experience managing complex customer-facing projects involving engineered systems, software, integration, and services.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-million-dollar CAPEX projects from concept through implementation and customer acceptance.
- Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, financial reporting, and change management.
- Experience within automation, robotics, intralogistics, material handling, AGV/AMR systems, warehouse automation, or related industrial environments strongly preferred.
- PMP Certification preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, and project management software tools.
