Job summary

Carnegie Search in Hickory, NC seeks an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee multiple mechanical construction projects from planning through completion. A strong background in mechanical and HVAC systems and the ability to manage projects from startup through closeout are essential.

You will lead project teams, monitor budgets and schedules, coordinate procurement, and ensure safety and quality while maintaining excellent client relations to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project management experience in mechanical construction or related environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience managing projects from planning and mobilization through completion and closeout.
• Strong understanding of project budgets, forecasting, scheduling, contracts, and change management.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, and specifications.

• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Manage procurement and ensure materials and equipment availability.
• Identify risks, cost issues, and scheduling challenges and develop solutions.
• Lead project meetings and communicate with owners, GCs, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Manage change orders, billing, documentation, and project closeout.
• Maintain strong customer relationships throughout projects.

Position Overview

We are partnering with an established mechanical contractor seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee multiple mechanical construction projects from planning through completion.

This position requires a strong background in mechanical and HVAC systems, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for project financials, scheduling, field execution, customer communication, and overall project performance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional who can effectively manage project teams, maintain strong customer relationships, and deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple mechanical construction projects simultaneously from startup through closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.

• Experience coordinating field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanical contractor experience preferred.
• Base salary of $120,000–$180,000, depending on experience.
