Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Project Executive for the Power & Energy Business Unit focusing on utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will secure new business, maintain client relationships, and ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery with top safety standards.

You will lead large design‑build projects nationwide, drive strategy, and mentor construction teams in a Seller/Doer role. Travel across the Southeast and beyond is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 20–25 years of progressive construction experience with $50M+ projects.
• Deep understanding of construction costs and cost drivers, including BESS equipment and balance‑of‑plant systems.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and mentor talent.
• Entrepreneurial drive with a focus on business development.
• Strong verbal and written communication with client presentations.

Responsibilities

• Drive and implement power & energy business plan; build client relationships.
• Lead RFQ/RFP responses; manage design, preconstruction, and contract processes (EPC, interconnection, equipment).
• Serve as executive client contact; ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
• Recruit and lead project teams; oversee design to construction transitions.
• Mentor teams; foster high performance and knowledge growth.
• Collaborate with operations on costs, risk, and field execution.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and cost savings in project delivery.
