Job summary

MPI in Columbia, SC seeks a Project Estimator to analyze plans, prepare cost estimates, and support bids for commercial and light industrial projects. The role emphasizes collaboration, cost-saving opportunities, and timely delivery of accurate estimates.

The ideal candidate will have experience in estimating, strong communication and leadership abilities, and proficiency with estimating software. On-site role with growth opportunities within a growing southeastern GC.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required in construction management or related field.
Proven experience as an estimator or precon manager in commercial or light industrial construction.
Strong understanding of construction processes and best practices.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools; excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Leadership and ability to manage a team and analyze complex problems.

Responsibilities

Analyze project plans and specs to determine material, labor, and equipment needs.
Prepare precise cost estimates for construction projects using standard software.
Collaborate to identify cost-saving options and value engineering opportunities.
Review subcontractor bids, negotiate pricing, ensure compliance with requirements.
Deliver estimates timely to support bid submissions and deadlines.
Stay updated on industry trends and cost factors affecting projects.
Mentor junior estimators and participate in client presentations when needed.
