Position: Senior Project Engineer

Our New England Civil Infrastructure Group is renowned for career development, training, and mentoring, working on diverse civil, environmental, and transportation projects. We are seeking a talented Senior Project Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practices based in the New England area. The role involves providing technical support for utility design projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, and water systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing projects of varying sizes.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, proposals, and contracts.
  • Monitor project budgets and performance weekly.
  • Negotiate scopes, fees, and schedules with sub-consultants under guidance.
  • Develop technical solutions and assist in project scope execution.
  • Ensure project schedules and budgets are met, report on progress, and identify additional work.
  • Gain project management experience and oversee financial performance.
  • Serve as Technical Lead for complex projects, coordinating among disciplines and subcontractors.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, contributing to their reviews.
  • Develop proposals, technical approaches, schedules, and estimates for large projects.
  • Maintain quality control, review designs, calculations, and assumptions.
  • Participate in client meetings, including public hearings; prepare presentations.
  • Lead construction administration activities, including progress meetings, submittal reviews, and project closeout.
  • Uphold quality, client satisfaction, and profitability standards.
  • Be aware of contract terms, professional liability, and report concerns.
  • Engage in professional associations and conferences, presenting or authoring papers.
  • Identify potential claims and document accordingly.
  • Possibly manage a direct report, overseeing workload, expenses, and career development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with 6 years of increasing responsibility, or a Master's with 5 years.

Licensing:

  • Registered Professional Engineer or working towards licensure within a year; ability to obtain licensure by reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Leadership and supervisory skills, effective communication, and client interaction.
  • A valid driver's license.
