Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a transportation Structural Engineer with a minimum of 20 years of experience in the design of new transportation structures such as highway, transit, and rail bridges. Experience with inspection and rehabilitation of existing structures is a plus. The successful candidate will assist senior engineers in performing analysis, developing designs, contract drawings, and specifications for various infrastructure and transportation-related projects. Possible locations in California include Roseville and Fresno. This role is full-time, though part-time will be considered. Join our Stantec Transportation Team and work alongside others who share your passion to better communities through exciting, sustainable, and unique projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Use knowledge of relevant structural engineering of transportation structures.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and details for various transportation projects.
• Design of new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures.
• Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, perform calculations, coordinate with the design team, conduct site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, respond to RFI, oversee testing and monitoring programs.
• Assist with client coordination including managing deliveries, submittals, meetings, review comments, etc. Clients include public agencies and private clients.
• Collaborate with other structural staff and departments to complete projects.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
• Proficient in steel, masonry, timber, and concrete (including precast and prestressed) design.
• Proficiency in Structural Analysis software such as SAP 2000, CsiBridge, Midas, or similar.
• Strong background in bridge design calculations and plans per Caltrans Standards.
• Thorough understanding of design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, Caltrans, AREMA, and CBC.
• Previous experience on California High Speed Rail Projects is a plus.
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with strong leadership and team-building skills.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree highly desired.
• 20 years’ experience in structural design for bridges and infrastructure with Caltrans experience.
• High-speed rail experience preferred.

Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
