Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Orlando, FL is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex residential land development projects. You will guide teams through planning, design, permitting and final delivery while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

As a technical leader, you will mentor engineers, coordinate with managers, clients, and agencies, and help drive innovative solutions across multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-growing region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex design tasks and guide project teams.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software and design tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to mentor staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform advanced engineering analysis, design, and documentation per codes and standards.
• Serve as technical resource and SME on complex projects from planning through final deliverables.

Overview

The Senior Project Engineer leads the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of complex engineering residential land development projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This role serves as a technical leader and mentor, guiding project teams through advanced design tasks while ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency across all phases of project delivery. The role work closely with project managers, clients, agencies, and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions that align with project goals, budgets, schedules, and applicable standards. This position reflects mastery of the Project Engineer role and applies advanced engineering judgment, independent decision-making, and leadership across assigned service areas.

Responsibilities

• Lead site design for residential development, including grading, drainage, and utility layouts.
• Lead and perform advanced engineering analysis, design, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and project requirements.
• Serve as a technical resource and subject-matter leader on complex projects, guiding design development from conceptual planning through final deliverables.
• Evaluate site constraints and design alternatives to meet client objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate permitting and regulatory approvals with local, state, and federal agencies.
• Provide technical leadership throughout project execution, from due diligence through construction support.
• Review engineering calculations, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and quality.
• Coordinate closely with project managers to support project scope, schedules, budgets, and quality control processes.
• Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians; review work for quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, agencies, and subconsultants to develop effective and innovative engineering solutions.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to evaluate alternatives, resolve technical challenges, and recommend optimal solutions.
• Support continuous improvement by introducing new tools, methods, and best practices that enhance project outcomes.
