Job summary

Weatherford is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to perform routine product design tasks and contribute to improvements in existing products. You will learn to evaluate cost efficiency and reliability, working under a leader to ensure timely completion of tasks.

The role requires familiarity with standard engineering tools, strong problem-solving, and willingness to learn. You will collaborate across departments to ensure quality and compliance with HSE policies and Weatherford standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering – with 5 years oilfield related experience.
  • Independent engineer capable of pursuing the necessary information needed to make a decision and then make that decision, even when the information collected is less than complete.
  • Microsoft office suite
  • Proven technical problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • 8-12 years of engineering experience
  • Project Management Experience required - new product development/platform enhancement experience needed

  • Supervisors & Managers should demonstrate effective safety leadership for the health and safety arrangements of all subordinates and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises
  • Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System
  • Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement
  • Modifies existing products to meet internal or external customer requirements.
  • Creates engineering layouts for fit, form and function.
  • Prepares calculations and design packages as required to complete design reviews.
  • Prepares, checks and or directs the preparation of detailed drawings and layouts.
  • Coordinates the manufacture of prototypes.
  • Develops experimental test programs.
  • Builds test tools and test fixtures in the test lab.
  • Conducts experimental test programs
  • Analyses test data to determine if the product meets predetermined technical specifications.
  • Prepares documentation as required for Engineering files.
  • Develops new products and services.
  • Prevent or eliminates defects in new or existing products.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of fundamental design tools such as threaded connections, seals, plated surfaces, heat treating, etc.
  • Understands the key limitations and advantages to manufacturing the product in different manners.
  • Conducts the analysis of failures and makes recommendations.
  • May utilize computer driven engineering software to complete complex analysis.
  • Coordinates all activities associated with technical developments, scheduling, budgeting, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Assists others with all engineering activities to include working within the Product Development Process.
  • Anticipates possible failure modes on products and recommends solutions based on experience.
  • Performs comprehensive analysis of critical components to eliminate possible failure modes.
  • Routinely demonstrates the ability to converge on a solution in a commercially viable amount of time in the absence of extensive guidance.
  • Performs task/project of a larger scope than a Design Engineer II; Will lead specific tasks in the project scope.
  • Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
  • Performs various other duties and activities as assigned by senior management within the physical constraints of the job.
  • Working knowledge of Cementation - (pouring, float shoes, baffle collars, etc).
  • Exposure to Cementation products and operations.

  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external
  • Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports

  • Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure
