Job summary

HNTB is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to deliver on a General Engineering Contract, embedded with the project manager at the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority office. You will support scoping, production, and delivery of capital projects, mentor staff, and ensure schedules and budgets are met while coordinating with clients and partners.

This role requires strong multi‑discipline engineering experience, effective communication, and the ability to lead and coordinate work across teams

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Master’s degree in Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 6+ years.
Professional Engineer (PE) or AICP credential is desirable depending on discipline.

Responsibilities

Apply senior‑level engineering expertise to evaluate a broad range of solutions.
Lead planning, work distribution, and schedule/budget adherence on complex projects.
Assist in marketing activities, including proposal generation.
Define scope of work and manage level of effort within the discipline.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of the project team’s technical outputs.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
Coordinate technical work with client counterparts and partners.
Lead discipline delivery on multi‑disciplinary projects.
Plan schedules and staffing for other disciplines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
