Job summary

Marathon Petroleum is seeking a Project Engineer in Houston, TX to conceptualize, design, and manage the construction of midstream natural gas facilities through start-up in compliance with company standards and regulations.

You will lead capital and expense projects, coordinate cross‑functional teams, ensure safety leadership, and drive project reviews from conception to commissioning across multiple sites including Denver as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, chemical, or electrical engineering.
• Four years or more of experience.
• ABET-accredited program or PE license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, environmental/health/safety impacts.
• Develops, implements, and manages capital and expense projects for business unit while adhering to budgets and project management processes.
• Facilitates project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure design meets corporate engineering standards.
• Manages, controls, and communicates project performance to multi-discipline project teams consisting of internal stakeholders.
• Manages multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start-up.
• Acts as a safety leader who upholds company core values and prioritizes personal and process safety.
• Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes utilizing sound engineering practices.
• Leads project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.
