Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation invites engineering interns to gain hands-on experience across midstream natural gas and NGL services. You will work with seasoned pros on real projects, including field oversight, project engineering, and process optimization in various facilities.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering, with strong academics and on-site availability for 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) seeking program for the duration of the experience.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Valid driver’s license for work-related travel.
• Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Will require time spent in the field monitoring and managing activities as required in various areas of our midstream natural gas and light crude facilities.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States with the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Available for multiple work terms is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Project scope development, including estimating, scheduling, design, contractor engagement and construction oversight.
• DOT-regulated pipeline integrity and maintenance programs.
• Field work at pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, gas processing plants and related facilities.
• Support midstream initiatives across Natural Gas & NGL Services operations (Automation/controls engineering, Electrical engineering, Process engineering, Process optimization engineering, Project engineering, Operations engineering, Reliability engineering, Pipeline integrity, Corrosion, Measurement services).

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering
