Job summary

DMW&H is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead design and development of material handling systems on large, complex projects. You will coordinate engineering efforts, supervise other engineers, and interface with Applications Engineering, Controls, Project Management, Purchasing, Shop and Field teams to meet client needs.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree, 7+ years in material handling, and strong CAD/3D modeling skills.

Qualifications

Four-year degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years of experience in the design and development of material handling systems.
Minimum of seven years of experience working with a material handling integrator.
Must be proactive with strong mechanical aptitude and multitasking ability.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems related to material handling design and installation.
Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with Windows OS, AutoCAD, 3D CAD (Inventor/SolidWorks), Microsoft Office, Navisworks, Recap and Point Cloud; BIM experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize and complete the engineering effort to meet project schedule and budget; update management on progress.
Plan and coordinate detailed mechanical engineering phases to meet timelines
Understand client requirements, equipment specs, and standards.
Proactively communicate issues, roadblocks and lead times.
Prepare O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
Provide direction to team members and subcontractors as needed.
Support other departments with engineering input.
Review designs for accuracy, standards compliance and alignment with project goals.
Lead design review meetings for internal teams and controls/electrical teams.
Design systems meeting throughput, load, size and building constraints.
Apply materials handling and auxiliary equipment to meet requirements and cost targets.
Order materials with clear task specifications and deadlines.
Mentor less experienced engineers and pursue cross-training.
Evaluate site conditions and coordinate task lists with others.
Maintain project files and drawing inventories.
Protect confidential information per company policies.
