Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for a major transportation project in the Newark, NJ area. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, design teams, owners, consultants, and subcontractors to coordinate and deliver critical infrastructure.

The role requires strong project coordination, documentation, and QA/QC, with exposure to budget tracking and schedule management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5-10+ years of experience with a General Contractor, CM, or Heavy Civil Contractor.
• Experience on transportation, aviation, airport, transit, rail, infrastructure, or public-sector projects.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specs, and contract documents.
• Experience managing RFIs, Submittals, Procurement logs, and project controls documentation.
• Ability to coordinate multiple trades, stakeholders, and design disciplines.
• Familiarity with interior construction, curtain wall/façade, vertical transportation, and public-facing infrastructure environments.
• Exposure to BIM/VDC coordination; OSHA 30 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support project management and field operations through all construction stages.
• Coordinate daily activities with owners, consultants, design teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
• Manage project documentation: RFIs, Submittals, Shop drawings, technical correspondence, procurement logs.
• Assist with budget management, cost tracking, change orders, and forecast activities.
• Coordinate construction packages for interior fit-out, vertical transportation, curtain wall, and building envelope systems.
• Review drawings for contract compliance and assist with resolving constructability challenges.
• Monitor subcontractor progress and performance; support inspections, testing, turnover and closeout.
• Track schedules, identify milestones impacts, and assist look-ahead planning and recovery scheduling.
• Support safety and quality management initiatives on-site.
