Senior Project Engineer for heavy civil / FDOT projects in Lakeland, Florida is available through MDS Staffing. This direct-hire, full-time role offers a $130,000–$150,000 base salary plus bonus and a clear path to Project Manager on a marquee FDOT highway program in Polk County.

You will lead RFIs, submittals, CPM scheduling, and coordination with designers, owners, and subcontractors, with a focus on constructability, cost control, and FDOT compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project engineering on heavy-civil/heavy-highway projects.
• Hands-on FDOT roadway project experience.
• Strong command of RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and field coordination.

Responsibilities

• Run RFIs and submittals end to end and keep stakeholders moving.
• Drive the schedule, update CPMs, and monitor critical path.
• Coordinate with Superintendent, crews, and subcontractors on sequencing and deliveries.
• Own the numbers: tracking quantities, pay estimates, and owner pay apps.
• Review plans for constructability and FDOT compliance, manage changes and proposals.
• Keep daily reports and as-builts aligned with FDOT standards and mentor junior engineers.
