Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for a major FDOT highway project in Lakeland, FL. The role leads heavy-civil construction efforts, coordinating RFIs, submittals, schedules, and onsite execution with the superintendent and crews.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in heavy-highway engineering and FDOT experience, with proficiency in Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and MS Project. This is a direct-hire, full-time role with strong growth toward a PM track.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project engineering on heavy-civil projects.
• Direct FDOT or DOT roadway project experience.
• Strong RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and field coordination.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFIs and submittals end to end to keep schedules on track.
• Develop and analyze CPM schedules; identify critical paths.
• Coordinate with Superintendent, crews, and subcontractors.
• Own quantity tracking, pay estimates, and owner pay apps.
• Review plans for constructability and FDOT compliance; manage changes.
• Maintain documentation and mentor junior engineers.
