Job summary

J. A. Watts, LLC (JWI) in Lisle, IL, seeks a Senior Project Engineer I to manage electrical power distribution, roadway lighting, ITS, and related infrastructure. Lead a multi-discipline team through design, procurement, and inspection, delivering on schedule and budget.

Requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 7+ years of project experience, PE license or progress toward it, and strong communication. Some site travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• 7+ years of professional project experience with design and development of electrical power distribution, roadway lighting, ITS, or traffic signals.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in multi-discipline engineering teams and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all technical aspects of a project including contract submission, designs, testing, and data collection and analysis.
• Review project plans and proposals and suggest updates or maintain changes as needed.
• Perform complex technical assignments including construction layout, engineering calculations, inspections, and field tests.
• Prepare and distribute specifications and timeline of the project to internal and external clients.
• Provide status reports on timeline and budget; allocate resources within budget; oversee external contractors.
• Maintain project integrity and reputation by complying with state and federal regulations; interact daily with clients.
