Job summary

RIMEPRO INC. is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of complex data center projects in California.

You will work with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure safety, schedule, and quality compliance. The ideal candidate brings data center MEP experience, strong coordination, and proven ability to manage RFIs, submittals, and procurement while mentoring junior staff and maintaining open lines of communication

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Project Engineer/Construction Engineer roles.
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience required.
  • Strong ability to read MEP drawings and coordinate disciplines.
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, procurement, and project controls.

Responsibilities

  • Support data center construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, structural, and equipment scopes.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change documentation, procurement tracking, and project logs.
  • Coordinate installation of mission-critical mechanical and cooling infrastructure.
  • Support chilled-water systems, chiller plants, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, piping, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate BIM/VDC activities and identify potential constructability or system conflicts.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and vendors to maintain project schedules and equipment deliveries.
  • Track long-lead equipment and identify procurement risks that could impact construction.
  • Support equipment installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and functional performance testing.
  • Assist with project schedules, look-ahead planning, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with field teams to resolve design and installation issues.
  • Participate in owner, contractor, subcontractor, and coordination meetings.
  • Support QA/QC documentation, inspections, punch lists, turnover packages, and project closeout.
  • Maintain strong communication between engineering, construction, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Project Engineers and junior project staff as needed.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in data center and mission-critical construction to support the planning, coordination, engineering, and execution of complex projects.

This position will work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with technical and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience with data center MEP infrastructure, mechanical cooling systems, chilled-water systems, equipment installation, BIM coordination, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support data center construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, structural, and equipment scopes.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Project Engineer, Construction Engineer, or related project experience.
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience required.
  • Strong understanding of MEP construction and coordination.
  • Experience with mechanical cooling and/or chilled-water infrastructure strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural drawings.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, procurement, change documentation, and project controls.
  • Understanding of construction scheduling and long-lead equipment coordination.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with hyperscale, colocation, AI/HPC, or other large data center projects.
  • Experience with central utility plants or modular chiller plants.
  • Knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems, VFDs, and controls.
  • Familiarity with data center redundancy strategies such as N+1, N+2, and 2N.
  • Experience with equipment startup, commissioning, and functional testing.
  • BIM/VDC coordination experience.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Revit/Navisworks, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
