Job summary

KingRecruitingServices is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to own the design of fully customized automated production equipment from concept through completion.

You will supervise design activities, coordinate resources, and manage milestones, with hands-on involvement in robotics, vision systems, welding, fixtures, and controls. You will collaborate with customers and suppliers, ensuring technical integrity and timely delivery while reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• BSME or similar degree with strong mechanical design skills.
• 5+ years of project design experience for fully customized automated production equipment; not a base product.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks is required.
• Experience with welding, fixture design and GD&T is required.
• Desirable: robotics, vision systems, computer controls, data acquisition.
• Direct experience working with customers and suppliers is desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are important.
• Experience managing or leading a team or large project to a timeline is desirable.
• Strong computer skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Design the overall system for a custom automated machine contracted for by a client; lead design engineers or external contractors on larger projects.
• Manage resources; break down design effort into tasks, timelines, and milestones; communicate and hold team accountable.
• Incorporate components like robotics, vision systems, welding, fixtures, controls, material handling, laser or plasma cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, and high-speed assembly.
• Regularly communicate project status to customers and management.
