Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II to coordinate field activities, review plans, and drive quality control across the project team. The role involves interaction with staff at all levels, maintaining confidentiality, and proactively addressing field coordination issues.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management and have at least three years of construction experience.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Current driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
