Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II to interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, delivering professional, confidential coordination and analysis of field issues. The role focuses on reviewing, analyzing, and resolving coordination challenges within project teams.

You will support submittals, permits, testing, and documentation, while mentoring field engineers and ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of three years construction experience.
• Detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving.
• Current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
