Job summary

South32 is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Concentrator at the Hermosa project near Patagonia, Arizona. You will oversee construction contractors, ensure adherence to safety, quality, environmental, and community standards, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver major facilities.

The role requires leadership across planning, risk, scheduling, cost control, and stakeholder engagement to drive safe, on-time delivery at the Hermosa site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with relevant experience.
• 10+ years in large-scale mining, industrial, or heavy civil construction.
• Experience coordinating engineering deliverables and vendor information.
• Experience managing union and non-union workforces.
• Experience overseeing construction contracts and material logistics.
• Proven ability to develop a strong safety culture and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across construction engineering teams and contractor organizations.
• Lead the construction engineering program and coordinate between project stakeholders, engineering teams, and vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure engineering and quality requirements are met.
• Manage and develop construction engineering personnel through coaching and performance management.
• Participate in planning activities, constructability reviews, and commissioning readiness.
• Review and optimize construction plans, schedules, and cost controls.
