Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking a Project Engineer to lead reviews and approvals of construction plans, manage the design and construction of CIP projects, and perform full contract administration. This role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to oversee projects from planning through completion under the Deputy Director of Public Works.

Qualifications include a BS in Civil Engineering, 10+ years in the field with municipal CIP experience, and a PE in Texas or eligibility within

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field with minimum ten years' experience, including five years in municipal capital programs.
• Supervisory experience in Civil Design, Construction, and/or review of municipal engineering projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
• Preferred: Procore; Certified Floodplain Manager; Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Review and approve construction plans and manage design/construction for CIP projects.
• Oversee project planning, budgets, schedules, and contract administration.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, utilities, and city departments to ensure compliance and project success.
• Develop project scopes, plans, specifications, and cost estimates; monitor performance criteria and schedules.
• Provide leadership to project management staff through design, bid, construction, and closeout phases.
• Draft and review contract documents, change orders, and RFIs; monitor deviations and ensure quality.
