Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering lead to architect pumping and cooling systems for advanced products. You will work with design teams and customers to define specifications, evaluate trade-offs, and develop robust verification plans.

You will guide product development teams through concept to production, manage risk, and ensure schedule, cost, and quality targets. Travel may be required for domestic and international projects.

Qualifications

BSME minimum; similar education may be considered with substantial, directly applicable experience
PMP desirable
10+ years of hands-on experience designing mechanical pumping systems
10+ years of hands-on experience designing cooling systems with heat exchangers and fans; data center experience preferred
3+ years of hands-on experience leading new product development teams
Working knowledge of PLM software
Working knowledge of MRP software; Oracle Cloud a plus
Knowledge and experience working with temperature, pressure, flow and other sensors
Solid understanding of total system testing, debugging, manufacturing, low cost, high quality and reliability
Ability to work independently and prioritize work based on overall project requirements
Experience and skills in technical problem solving, analyzing system risk, identifying options and making recommendations
Excellent verbal and communication skills
SolidWorks experience/knowledge desirable
Ability to perform the physical demands of an office and laboratory environment, including hearing, talking, standing, walking and sitting
Occasional auto or air travel required; domestic and international travel possible

Responsibilities

Interface with design teams and customers to understand and develop product specifications
Evaluate trade-offs among performance/functionality, quality, cost and schedule
Design mechanical pumping and cooling systems, selecting pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, fans and sensors
Design mechanical portions of flow and heat-transfer control solutions
Create mechanical product schematics
Develop and execute verification test plans
Write test procedures and engineering reports
Create new items and bills of materials for the electrical portion of the design
Manage the mechanical panel portion of new product development and ensure cost, performance and schedule goals are achieved
Manage risk mitigation efforts
Consult as a subject matter expert with project teams on technical issues
Drive continuous improvement and update applicable procedures
Provide product support from early concept through development and production
Support failure and root-cause analysis of prototype and production products
Lead product development teams with a focus on concurrent design, teamwork and balancing performance, quality, cost and schedule
Create and maintain program plans, schedules and project deliverables
Communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with Boyd product team members globally and use global resources
