Job summary

Jobtailor in Milpitas, CA seeks a senior mechanical engineering leader to head a team designing products with multiple powered DOFs. You will oversee design, build and testing of systems and critical components, and guide architectures against client metrics.

You will lead cross-functional collaboration, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate with engineers across offices to ensure production readiness and timely delivery of high-quality instrument solutions.

Qualifications

• BSME required; MSME preferred
• 8+ years of technical system-level design experience—from architectural definition to design to release to manufacturing
• Project Management experience leading a cross functional team
• Mechatronics expertise: motors, bearings, gear trains, belt drives, and sensors
• Experience with motion control hardware including motors (steppers, servos, dc motors) and position sensors (encoders, limit switches etc.)
• Experience with end effector design is a plus
• Multiple projects designed, fabricated, and tested
• Automation experience for industrial applications and manufacturing lines
• Hands-on system bring-up and integration with a cross functional team
• ME analysis experience in kinematics, structural, thermal and tolerances
• Materials and component selection expertise
• Proficient in Solidworks CAD and FEA
• Experience with life science instrument and/or medical device design is a plus
