Job summary

Jobtailor in Michigan seeks a seasoned Engineering Project Leader to supervise 2–4 Gentex engineering disciplines in product development, coordinating with OEMs and customers. You will balance Agile and Waterfall, document requirements, and convert them into implementation roadmaps.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or related field; equivalent education/experience
5+ years in product development, software, manufacturing, or testing in an engineering role
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)
Leadership experience leading cross-functional teams
Experience leading System Engineering teams in product development
Experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or System Engineering
Experience managing projects or leading a team
Experience in Project or Program Management
Experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, or Consumer Electronics industries
Familiarity with DOORS, Microsoft Project or Smartsheet, Jira
Understanding of Agile and Waterfall
ISO 26262 / ASIL experience
ASPICE experience
Authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Lead 2–4 Gentex Engineering disciplines in product development
Coordinate with product management, program management, and engineering teams to document and supervise program requirements and technical specifications
Transform requirements and specifications into implementation roadmaps
Balance agile and waterfall methodologies to create schedules and manage cross-functional dependencies
Collaborate with team members and SMEs to meet project and customer requirements
Advocate for stakeholders and communicate expectations to development teams
Communicate goals, progress, and process efficiencies to senior leadership
Identify and remove project roadblocks
Coordinate technical project launch meetings with cross-functional engineering teams
Release engineering artifacts including product software, Bills of Materials, and release notes
Teach and drive project management best practices
Lead engineering quotations and develop profitable product business cases
Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Perform other duties as assigned

Work with outside vendors and communicate timelines and expectations with OEMs and customers
Coordinate with product management, program management, and engineering teams to document and supervise program requirements and technical specifications
Transform requirements and specifications into implementation roadmaps

Collaborate with team members and subject matter experts to make decisions meeting project and customer requirements
Advocate for stakeholders and communicate expectations to development teams

Identify and remove project team roadblocks
Coordinate technical project launch meetings with cross-functional engineering teams

Requirements

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or other related field, or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience
5+ years of product development, software development, manufacturing, or testing experience in an engineering position
Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel
Leadership experience
Experience leading System Engineering (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software) teams in product development
Experience working in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Design, or System Engineering
Experience managing a project or leading a team
Experience in Project or Program Management
Experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, and Consumer Electronics Industries
Familiarity with DOORS
Experience with Microsoft Project or Smartsheet
Experience with Jira
