Job summary

Brightsmith seeks a Senior Manager, Project Development to lead utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across MISO and SPP. You will drive development from early stages through NTP, coordinating land, permitting, interconnection, and financing with a lean team.

You’ll report to the Head of Development and work closely with leadership in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment as the company expands its multi-GW pipeline.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of utility-scale renewable energy development experience, with strong solar exposure; storage or wind exposure is valuable.
• Proven track record of taking projects through NTP, financing, or construction; COD experience preferred
• Development experience in MISO and/or SPP, including interconnection, transmission risk, and regional market dynamics

Responsibilities

• Own projects from development through NTP, setting strategy, critical path, budget, schedule, and risk management
• Drive land control, permitting, environmental diligence, engineering, and community engagement
• Work with transmission and interconnection specialists to assess queue progress, study results, network upgrade exposure, and project viability
• Lead projects through internal investment decisions, presenting economics, risks, and recommended actions
• Coordinate with real estate, engineering, legal, finance, procurement, and commercial teams to advance projects through financing and construction
• Build strong relationships with landowners, utilities, local governments, consultants, and offtakers
• Stay engaged through construction and operations to resolve issues affecting project performance and value
