Brightsmith seeks a Senior Manager, Project Development to lead utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across MISO and SPP. You will drive development from early stages through NTP, coordinating land, permitting, interconnection, and financing with a lean team.

You’ll report to the Head of Development and work closely with leadership in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment as the company expands its multi-GW pipeline.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of utility-scale renewable energy development experience, with strong solar exposure; storage or wind exposure is valuable.
• Proven track record of taking projects through NTP, financing, or construction; COD experience preferred
• Development experience in MISO and/or SPP, including interconnection, transmission risk, and regional market dynamics

The Role

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Project Development to lead utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across MISO and SPP for a growing independent power producer.

The company is backed by a global energy investor and has secured significant development and construction financing to support its 5 GW solar and storage platform. The development team currently manages roughly 3 GW of projects in the interconnection queue or with executed interconnection agreements, plus more than 1 GW of active greenfield. Two projects are moving into construction early next year. This is a hands-on role on a lean development team, where you’ll own 200-400 MW projects through mid- and late-stage development to NTP and stay engaged through construction and commercial operation. You’ll report directly to the Head of Development and work closely with leadership in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

What You’ll Do

What Success Looks Like

• Personally run the critical path on multiple late-stage projects at once
• Move projects from queue position to financeable, construction-ready assets
• Make sound commercial decisions on development spend, risks, and tradeoffs to maximize project value
• Contribute to the next phase of growth as the company builds out its multi-GW pipeline

What We’re Looking For

• 5-8 years of utility-scale renewable energy development experience, with strong solar experience; battery storage or wind exposure is valuable
• Proven track record of taking projects through NTP, financing, or construction; experience carrying projects to COD is strongly preferred
• Development experience in MISO and/or SPP, including interconnection, transmission risk, and regional market dynamics
• PJM or Southeast (SERC/Southern Company) experience is a plus
• Generalist background spanning land, permitting, environmental diligence, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement
• Strong grasp of project economics, including development budgets, interconnection costs, offtake, tax incentives, and financing
• Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and thrives in a small team where responsibilities overlap

Flexible U.S. location, with travel to project sites of roughly 25-35%

Base Salary up to $190,000k + bonus
