Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Project Financial Controls Specialist to apply cost control procedures and best practices to projects, while training team members in the Project Financial Management (PFM) system and related software.

The role emphasizes implementing cost controls, producing performance metrics, and supporting teams with PFM updates to ensure budget and forecast goals are met across multiple projects and locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Management, Finance, or related degree.
• Minimum of three years' experience in construction management preferred.
• Minimum of three years' experience with cost management and financial control practices.
• Preferred experience using Oracle E-Business Suite or similar enterprise-level ERP system.
• Strong Excel skills; macro development a plus.
• Experience with project cost issue management and change management.
• Experience with estimating, budgeting, and financial projections.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer project financial cost control functions.
• Communicate with project teams on the development, application, use, and training of PFM.
• Maintain effective cost control practices consistent with Mortenson's policies and procedures.
• Produce cost control performance metrics for group leadership.
• Provide project teams with knowledge to meet budget and forecast goals.
• Support project teams with updates and enhancements to the PFM system.
• Provide functional technical expertise for system releases.
• Test, validate and maintain test plans.
• Prioritize system enhancements to maximize benefit to operations.
• Coordinate enhancement efforts with other business groups.
• Recreate and document errors and enhancements.
• Provide communication to operations.
