Jobtailor is seeking a Senior/Principal level Finance and Controls Analyst to support utility capital projects. You will implement cost and schedule controls, develop KPIs, and ensure data-driven decision making across variances, forecasts, and cost drivers.

The role requires expertise in Earned Value Management, Primavera P6, Power BI, and advanced Excel, with on-site availability in multiple U.S. locations. Strong communication and audit-driven mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher is required for Senior level.
• Related field degree from accredited university including Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management.
• High School Diploma or GED with four years' experience as a Financial Controls Analyst for Senior level.
• Qualified Associate's degree with six years' qualified experience for Senior level.
• Qualified Bachelor's degree with four years' qualified experience for Senior level.
• High School Diploma or GED with four years' experience as a Project Coordinator Sr for Principal level.
• Qualified Associate's degree with eight years' qualified experience for Principal level.
• Qualified Bachelor's degree with six years' qualified experience for Principal level.
• Experience in utility-specific operations and work processes/procedures.
• Experience implementing Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Familiarity with energy/utility delivery models and milestones.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Power BI/Tableau proficiency.
• Experience with Enterprise Asset Management systems such as Maximo.
• Experience with EcoSys.

Responsibilities

• Support successful execution of utility capital projects through cost, schedule, and quality controls
• Establish and maintain cost controls for visibility into variances, forecasts, and cost drivers
• Build and own cost performance KPIs and dashboards, including CV, CPI, EAC accuracy, commitment versus actual burn rates, change order cycle time, and change cost growth
• Measure schedule health and adherence using leading and lagging indicators
• Create and operate schedule health matrices and schedule quality checks
• Build schedule performance KPIs, including SV, SPI, milestone adherence, critical path stability, lookahead plan reliability, re-plan frequency, and schedule churn
• Create measurable quality controls to reduce rework and improve first-time-right delivery and turnover readiness
• Monitor turnover package completeness and timeliness, material receiving and traceability, installation verification, commissioning readiness, and as-built documentation quality
• Build and continuously improve a repeatable, scalable controls system based on performance insights, audit findings, and user feedback
• Create improvements that reduce cycle time, improve forecast accuracy, and increase data reliability
• Standardize the definition of done for status updates and progress measurement
