Job summary

Hut 8 is seeking a Principal, Project Controls to act as the cost, schedule, and financial conscience of our construction program. You will own estimates, budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting across multi-hundred million projects, partnering with field teams and corporate finance.

In this high-visibility role, you’ll deliver weekly executive reporting, challenge project managers and vendors when numbers don’t add up, and travel 25%+ to sites across North America while driving transparency

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, construction finance, or FP&A for large capital projects.
• Direct experience on projects of $500M+ total installed cost with embedded collaboration with delivery teams.
• Demonstrated ability to challenge and influence project managers, contractors, and senior stakeholders with data-driven analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience reporting to executive audiences.
• Willingness to travel 25%+ to project sites across North America.

Responsibilities

• Own project controls across capital projects: budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, change management, and cash flow projections.
• Develop and pressure-test project estimates from concept through GMP validation; reconcile estimates to actuals.
• Monitor schedules and cost reports; perform variance analysis and drive corrective action with project teams.
• Partner with FP&A and Accounting on capital planning, accruals, monthly close, and cost reconciliation across systems.
