Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Project Controls Lead to support a major transit and rail project in New York. The role focuses on integrating cost, schedule, change, risk, and construction progress to provide an independent view of project performance.

The candidate will work in a matrixed environment with schedulers, risk, change management, and construction teams, interfacing with the client and contractor. Strong communication and owner-side mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Fifteen+ years in project controls, cost controls, or related major infrastructure.
• Experience in cost estimating and/or cost controls on large projects (>$120M).
• Strong understanding of cost forecasting, quantities, labor/equipment, and cost development.

Responsibilities

• Lead GFT’s integrated project controls interface with the client, Owner’s Representative, and Design-Builder/GC.
• Evaluate contractor performance, quantities, forecast impacts, and emerging cost exposure.
• Integrate cost, schedule, change, risk, and construction progress into owner-side assessments.
• Collaborate with schedulers, risk, change management, commercial, construction and technical leads.
• Assess change orders for cost, schedule, sequencing, and exposure.
• Engage with contractors to understand work plans, forecasts, and recovery strategies.
• Review schedule data with the team to understand critical-path movement and milestones.
• Support railroad construction impact analysis (track, signals, substations, ROW access).
• Identify disconnects among cost/schedule/risk data and drive actionable resolutions.
• Translate project-control data into concise, decision-ready briefs for leadership.
• Help develop a discipline, schedule-driven management approach.
