Job summary

AECOM is hiring a Senior Cost Engineer to provide technical expertise in cost engineering and financial-control functions across multiple projects in Boston, MA. You will help maintain cost integrity, forecasting, and timely financial reporting.

You will collaborate with project leadership, construction teams, and contractors to ensure costs are tracked, analyzed, and reported accurately, including EACs, budgets, and change management processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline plus eight years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Experience with construction contracts, cost structures, Schedule of Values, and change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, commitments, actual costs, accruals, forecasts, and EAC.
• Track and analyze cost performance across multiple projects, contracts, and funding sources.
• Identify cost trends, variances, risks, and communicate their potential financial impacts to leadership.
• Support CM teams with contractor payment applications, change orders, SOV reviews, and cost-compliance requirements.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and contractual alignment.
• Support evaluation and tracking of change orders, contingency usage, allowances, and forecasted cost impacts.
• Maintain cost records, cost reports, change logs, and other financial-control documents.
• Apply Earned Value Management and other performance-measurement techniques as required.
• Reconcile cost information between PMIS, financial systems, and contractor records.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports, forecasts, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and clients.
