Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a Principal Business Analyst - Project Controls to support our work at Savannah River National Lab in Aiken, SC. The role focuses on organizing, developing, and maintaining project controls, cost management, and scheduling for complex DOE programs.

You will lead cost analyses, baselines, and reports, collaborate with engineering teams, ensure compliance with CAS/FAR and security requirements, and mentor junior staff while delivering accurate financial insights.

Qualifications

• At least 5-11 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.
• Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
• Possesses strong personal computer skills.
• Requires expert proficiency in the use of automated accounting, cost management, scheduling and estimating systems as tools for performing required duties.
• Possesses practical experience in the use of the Site Business systems. A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project management and cost and schedule control at the tactical level would be necessary, along with a knowledge of operations, maintenance, or project startup and construction.

Responsibilities

• Organize, develop, implement, maintain and be accountable for total project controls and cost management across lifecycle of complex projects.
• Perform project controls activities and prepare business/financial plans and reports.
• Develop cost and schedule baselines, WBS, milestone schedules, spend plans for optimal resource use.
• Provide leadership in development of advanced system applications for project controls.
• Participate in routine cost reviews and establish a basic change management system for engineering and construction.
• Analyze variances in cost and schedule; communicate reasons and mitigation to management.
• Understand the business environment and operations of the area supported.
• Link between client and planning process; contribute to client’s business unit control.
• Perform financial analyses: variance, scenario, etc.
• Develop costing rates and maintain rates in PeopleSoft; analyze variances.
