Job summary

Carrier Johnson + Culture (CJ+C) seeks a Senior Project Manager / Architect with deep civic and higher education experience to lead complex public projects in California from planning through construction. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining design excellence.

With 12+ years of experience and licensure, you will navigate public procurement, design-build or CM at Risk delivery, and collaborate with design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
• 12+ years of professional experience in civic/higher education/public/institutional projects in California.
• Experience leading RFQ/RFP pursuits for public-sector work; design-build or alternative delivery methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and drive project delivery across all phases, managing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Serve as primary client interface, coordinating with public-sector leadership and stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal teams and external consultants for integrated design and technical solutions.
• Guide projects through regulatory approvals, including DSA and other CA processes.
• Collaborate with Design Leaders and technical staff to align design intent with constraints.
• Lead RFQ/RFP pursuits for civic/higher education work and alternative delivery methods.
• Oversee construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and site visits.
• Plan workplans, staffing, and fee management for projects.
• Negotiate contracts and consultant agreements with firm leadership.
• Anticipate risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain performance.
• Uphold quality standards and ensure compliance with codes and practices.
• Mentor project teams to foster collaboration and high performance.
