Job summary

Carrier Johnson + Culture (CJ+C) seeks a Senior Project Architect to lead technical development across complex projects in higher education and civic work. You will translate design intent into buildable solutions, guiding teams through all project phases and coordinating with clients, design leaders, and interdisciplinary teams.

With 12+ years of licensed leadership, you bring expertise in campus environments, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory navigation in Southern California.

Qualifications

• Licensed Architect; California licensure strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
• 12+ years of professional experience on higher education and civic projects.
• Experience with San Diego County institutions and local approvals.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit for producing and coordinating construction documents.
• Knowledge of California Building Code, accessibility, and DSA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development and delivery of complex projects across all phases.
• Translate design intent into coordinated, buildable solutions while guiding teams.
• Coordinate internal teams and external consultants for integrated systems.
• Navigate permitting and regulatory processes, including DSA approvals.
• Support delivery by aligning technical solutions with goals, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee construction administration, RFI handling, submittals, and site coordination.
• Mentor junior staff and maintain design intent through execution.
• Participate in client and stakeholder coordination to align solutions.
